A lot of Valley pools were built between the 1970s and the 2000s. The shells are often still sound, but the finish is tired, there's a white scale line on the tile, the deck is cracked, and the equipment runs louder and costs more to operate than it should. Remodeling updates those pieces without starting over.

Phoenix Pool Remodel lays out the options as three packages, with add-ons you can mix in, and sets up a free on-site estimate so you get pricing for your specific pool. All remodeling work is performed by [PARTNER NAME], licensed AZ ROC #[ROC NUMBER].

How to choose a package

The packages are organized around how much of the pool you want to change.

Refresh is for pools that look and feel worn but are otherwise in decent shape. It covers a new plaster or quartz finish and a tile cleaning, starting from around $8K. It's the right call when the surface is the main complaint and the tile, coping and deck still look acceptable to you.

Renovation goes further, typically in the $15K to $25K range. It pairs a pebble finish with new waterline tile and new coping, the three surfaces people notice most. If your tile is cracked or dated and the coping is chipped, this is usually the place to start.

Full Remodel, at $30K and up, includes everything in Renovation plus a deck, an equipment upgrade and a feature such as a tanning ledge, water feature or LED lighting. It suits homeowners who want the deck and equipment redone along with the pool itself.

What a remodel can change

Most remodels work within the existing pool shell. That still leaves plenty of room to change how the pool looks and works:

  • The interior finish, moving from plaster to quartz or pebble, often in a new color
  • Waterline tile and coping, which set much of the pool's style
  • The deck around the pool, including cooler coatings for summer
  • Equipment, such as a variable-speed pump and automation
  • The shape inside the shell: a tanning ledge, benches or a shallower deep end
  • Lighting, water features and even an added spa

How add-ons fit in

Add-ons build on any package. Some are practical. Deck resurfacing fixes cracked or hot concrete, and a variable-speed pump with automation can cut energy use and make the pool easier to run. Others change how the pool gets used. A baja shelf or tanning ledge gives kids and loungers a shallow place to sit, LED lighting makes evening swims feel different, and water features add sound and movement.

The bigger add-ons are a diving pool conversion, which raises the deep end to a more usable depth, and adding a spa. These are usually easier and cheaper to fold into a remodel than to tackle later, since the pool is already drained and the crew is already on site. Changing the pool's overall footprint is a larger project and isn't always practical, and the licensed contractor can tell you what's realistic for your yard.

Planning around Phoenix summers

Timing matters here. Most people want the pool ready by late spring, so fall, winter and early spring are popular times to remodel. Calendars tend to fill up ahead of swim season, and starting the conversation early gives you more choice of dates.

Summer work is possible, but heat affects both people and materials. Finishes cure differently in high temperatures, and an empty shell sitting in 110°F sun needs attention. The licensed contractor plans the work around conditions and may recommend specific timing for your project.

What to expect from the estimate

The free estimate is an on-site visit. The finish, tile, coping, deck and equipment are looked at in person, and you talk through how you want to use the pool. From there, you get pricing for the package that fits, plus any add-ons you're considering.

It helps to come with a rough sense of priorities, like whether the rough finish, the dated tile, the hot deck or the power bill bothers you most. That tells the licensed contractor where to focus, and it keeps the pricing tied to what you care about instead of a long list of upgrades you don't need.

There's no obligation. If a Refresh covers what you need, that's what you'll hear. You can request an estimate online or call (480) 582-9971.

FAQ

Pool Remodeling: common questions

What's the difference between resurfacing and remodeling?

Resurfacing replaces the interior finish. Remodeling can include resurfacing plus tile, coping, deck, equipment and features. The Refresh package is close to a straight resurfacing job.

Can I add features later instead of all at once?

Yes, though some are much easier while the pool is drained. Tanning ledges, benches and diving pool conversions fit best during a remodel. Lighting and equipment are simpler to upgrade later.

Do I need to replace my equipment?

Not always. Older single-speed pumps are often worth replacing with a variable-speed model, but the licensed contractor checks what you have before recommending anything.

Will my remodel need a permit?

It depends on your city and the scope of work. Structural, equipment and electrical changes are the usual triggers. The licensed contractor will explain what applies to your project.
